Accessibility Policy and Plan

The Accessibility Plan outlines the policies and actions that Waldan Gardens will put in place to improve opportunities and safety for people with disabilities. Our Accessibility Plan will be reviewed as needed to reflect our accomplishments in improving our services for those with disabilities, and to maintain compliance.

Policy Statement of Commitment

Waldan Gardens is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in equal opportunity and integration. We will prevent and remove barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act which shows our commitment to meeting the needs of those with disabilities.

Customer Service

Waldan Gardens is committed to excellence in serving all customers including persons with disabilities. We have put the customer service policies into practice as required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Customer Service Achievements:

Waldan Gardens has created and put in place customer service training that complies with the requirements of the Act. This policy is available on our website as well as in all new hire employee orientation handbooks.

Waldan Gardens has trained staff who interact with customers on accessible customer service, and has created an ongoing process to train new staff with regards to the customer service standard.

Customer Service Reporting Requirements:

Waldan Gardens has reported our progress online by filing an accessibility report with the Minister of Community and Social Services.

Workplace Emergency Response Information

Waldan Gardens is committed to providing our customers with publicly available emergency information in an accessibly way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response information when necessary.

Information and Communications

Waldan Gardens will ensure all new website content conforms to standards set out by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Recruitment

Waldan Gardens is committed to equitable and accessible employment practices. To the best of our abilities upon request, we will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes.

Employees Accommodation

Waldan Gardens will take the following steps to develop and put in place a process for developing individual accommodation plans and return-to-work policies for employees that have been absent due to a disability.

  • We will develop individualized return to work plans as well as work with WSIB back to work specialists for those who have been injured on the job.
  • We will have modified work available for those who are unable to perform their regular duties, to the best of our abilities.
  • We will make performance management accessible by providing feedback and coaching to our employees in a way that is accessible to them, such as using plain language for an employee who has a learning disability or making performance management documents available in accessible formats upon request.

Other

Waldan Gardens will review all requests identified by the public, employees, and customers of Waldan Gardens and take steps to prevent and remove identified accessibility barriers as necessary.

Design of Public Spaces

Waldan Gardens does not have public spaces as outlined by the Design of Public Spaces or self-serve kiosks and as a result these regulations from the Act do not apply.
